

James Dockery, age 86 of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 24, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lilly Dockery; sons, James (Jim) Dockery and John Claridy Dockery Jr.; granddaughter, Crystal Claridy; sister, Alice Coy; brother, Ralph Dockery; sister in law, Mary Dockery; nephews, Eric and Greg Dockery and in-laws, Dee and Elva Cubbage. He was a member of Mt. Eden Baptist Church, previous owner of Dockery Texaco & Goodyear Tire, former volunteer for Nichols Fire Department and a retired Deputy of Bullitt County Sheriffs Office.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 66 years, Emma Jean Cubbage Dockery; daughter, Nancy Kerns (David); grandchildren, Matthew Kerns (Katie), Andrew Dockery (Ana), Bryan Dockery (Shaunna), Alyssa Conover, Amber Wease, Jason, Joshua, Jamie, David and Dianna Claridy and Nikki McIntosh; brothers, Wendell Dockery, Charles Dockery (Evelyn) and Billie Joe Dockery (Patty); sister, Hazel Newton (John); daughters in law, Theresa Dockery and Karen Claridy; brother in law, W.D. Coy; sister in law, Donna Dockery; 15 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in the chapel at Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 S. Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with burial in Clarkson Cemetery in Clarkson, Kentucky. Family and friends may pay their respects from 1 pm until 8 pm on Friday, December 30, 2022, and from 9 am until time of service on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Hardy-Close Funeral Home.
