James William Mercer

Mr. James William Mercer, age 79, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Richard and Mary Evelyn (Foushee) Mercer. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and a member of Harrison Masonic Lodge #122 in Brandenburg, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ross and nephew, Jerry Ross.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Mercer; daughters, Traci DeVary (Eric) and Terri Johnson (Kevin); grandchildren, Carsen DeVary, Clay Johnson and Allie Johnson; brother, Larry Mercer (Katherine); 3 nieces; mother-in-law, Alma Bertholf (Barney); brother-in-law, Garrett McDaniel (Tammy) along with a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 1:00 in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home (285 S. Buckman Street) with interment in Bullitt Lick Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 3:00 until 8:00 and on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
