It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Cynthia (Woloch) Alberico, who left us on November 13th, 2025, at the age of 72, in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. She was a beloved sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished member of the community.
Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Harry Woloch, Jr, and LaVerne Wisniewski Woloch, the first of their seven children. In 1970, Mary moved with her parents and siblings and her young son, James Alberico, to Bullitt County Kentucky, where they set down roots. Mary studied to be a beautician and opened Head South Hair & Tanning Salon in Bardstown Junction in the mid-1980’s. For many years, Head South was also a gathering place for Mary’s large extended family and many friends.
Mary is survived by her son, James Alberico, her daughter-in-law Mandy Alberico, her grandchildren Whittney Cox, Paige Alberico-Castle and Noah Alberico, her great-grandchildren Olivia Cox and Loki Castle, sisters Cecilia, Rebecca (Higginbotham), Suzanne, and Roberta (Buchanan) Woloch, and brothers John and Charles Woloch (Charlotte), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and LaVerne Woloch, her nephew Jesse Higginbotham, and her former husband John Richey.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19th, at Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 South Buckman Street in Shepherdsville, from 4 to 8 pm. A service will be held on Thursday, November 20th, at 11 am at the Hardy Close Funeral home.
We will forever cherish the memories and the love Mary shared with us all.
Rest in Peace.
