

Roland “English” Fennell, age 79 of Mt. Washington, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, with his loving family by his side. English was born in England on Sunday, December 9, 1945, to the late George and Ivy (Pryor) Fennell.
As a young man in England, he served in the Special Forces in the British Army. Once he came to the States his journey began in Utah and later his journey landed him in Kentucky where he met his loving wife, Phyllis. He shared his love of music and singing karaoke with many of his friends.
English easily became a University of Kentucky fan and enjoyed many trips to the SEC tournaments. He liked to host Memorial Day parties with his family and friends. English was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend that will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters, Doreen, Brenda, and Dorothy, and brother George “Alf”.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Phyllis Fennell; his children, Grant Fennell (Debbie), Donna Dimmock (Simon), Andrea Harris (Sam) all of England, Collette Carbone of Utah; stepson, Bobby Phelan of Utah; stepchildren, Sharon Capito (Scott), and Terry Whitley (Pam); 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Dilks of Utah; numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins; his fur baby, Brady along with a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 6 pm Sunday, April 6, 2025, in the Chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street in Shepherdsville with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday from 2 pm until the time of service at 6 pm.
