
Ruth Ann Harper at the age of 73, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at her home in Portland, Tennessee. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 23, 1951, to the late Willie and Matra Stargel.
In addition to her parents, she was reunited in Heaven with her daughter, Dayna Combs and brothers, Harold and Bobby Stargel.
She was a Christian by faith. Ruth was loving and selfless. She was always putting others above herself and was never one to tell others no. She enjoyed crafting, reading and trips to the casino. Ruth was strong-willed, intelligent but above all she loved deeply and will be missed immensely by her husband, family and friends.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Amos Harper; children, Melissa Shock (James), and Mike Combs (Kim); grandsons, Derek Combs, and Christian Combs (Olivia); siblings, Belinda Nichols (Terry), Peggy Johnson (Bruce), Alice Hayes (Tommy), Tiffany Corley (Eric), and Timmy Stargel along with a host of nieces, nephews and family.
Funeral services will be at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Hardy-Close Funeral Home, 285 S. Buckman Street in Shepherdsville, Kentucky with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday at Hardy-Close Funeral Home from 1 pm to 8 pm and on Tuesday from 9 am till the time of service at 12:30 pm.
