William Edward Phelps Jr.

William Edward Phelps Jr., age 70, of Brooks, Kentucky passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on Tuesday, June 30, 1953, to the late William Phelps Sr and Carolyn Phelps.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Alvey, Jerry Phelps, and Kenny Mattingly; his son, Eli Key; and a stepfather, William Mattingly.

William enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and being with his family. If you knew William, you would know that he was never wrong. He will be sadly missed by so many who loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 33 years, Elizabeth Phelps; his children, Barry Phelps (Tiffany), Brandon Phelps (Lindsey), Brittany McKnight (Larry), Charles Key (Dana), Dusty Key and Regina Childress; his brothers, Robert Phelps, Gary Phelps, and Timothy Mattingly (Kim); his sisters, Dawn Gratton (Tony), and Denise Phelps, along with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 12 pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 South Buckman Street Shepherdsville with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Visitations will be Monday, 3 pm until 8 pm and Tuesday, 9 am until the time of service at 12 pm.
