

Mr. Berry L. Avery “Spanky”, age 55, of Louisville returned to his Heavenly Father on May 10, 2020. He was born on August 22, 1965 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Avery was an avid sports fan and was a University of Louisville fan. He was also a very skilled painter who loved to paint. He worked for Porter Paints and loved to paint freestyle as well. He was a real jokester who loved to put people in a good mood. He was an optimistic person and loved to name all his cats Mota. Above all he loved his family dearly. Mr. Avery will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his loving adoptive parents, Annie (Rose) Gholston Mason and James Gholston; his brother, John Gholston; and his sister, Juanita Simpson. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Ebony Warren and D’Andre Owens; grandchild, Kylan Slone; brothers, James, Steven, and Ronald Gholston; sisters, Valerie Gholston and Tinya Conner; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 24, 2020 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
