Betty was born on December 22nd, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Walter O'Nan and Melba Davis. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 16, and faithfully lived her life seeking to honor the Lord. Her greatest desire was that others would come to know Christ and to experience His saving grace.
Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and faithful friend. Betty was always willing to help others and share words of encouragement. A faithful member of Vision Valley Baptist Church and Keys Ferry Baptist Church before then, Betty volunteered in any way that she could. She loved studying God's Word, singing old hymns, and telling others about the goodness of the Lord. Her life was a testimony of God's faithfulness.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Virgil Stearman, two sons, Glenn Stearman and David Stearman, her parents, Walter O'Nan and Melba Davis, five brothers, Mark Lee, Bobby, Ronnie, Charlie, and Jimmy, three sisters, Carol, Debbie, and Deborah, and one grandson, Jonathan.
She is survived by two sons, Ricky Stearman and Gary Stearman, two daughters, Cheryl Stearman and Judy (Jeff) Money, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Stearman.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, Bambi (Eric), Michelle (Jake), Ricky Jr., Joel, Aaron, Amanda, David Allen, Jenny, Timmy, Brittany, Ashley, Kevin (Neka), Mindy, Steve (Misti), Daniel, Scotty (Ashley), Thomas (Amanda), Joshua, and Julia, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with cherished church family, lifelong friends, and a loyal companion, Lacey.
While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice knowing Betty is whole, healed, and forever in the presence of her Savior. They find comfort in the promise of Scripture,
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness.”
2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
