Catherine Elizabeth Owen

Age 92, went home to the Lord and her beloved Bill on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

Mrs. Owen was born on September 6, 1920. She was a homemaker and had retired from the Jefferson County School Board after 35 years, working as a lunchroom worker/manager. She and Bill were members of the Bullitt County and Belmont Saddle Clubs, riding in annual 100 mile trail rides.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. "Bill" Owen; sisters, Edna Martin, Christine Zilhart and Willie Gentry and great granddaughter, Grace Owen.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sharon Whartenby (Clyde), Bill Owen (Jeanie) and Bob Owen of Mt. Washington; grandchildren, Jim Owen(Rhonda) and Jeff Owen (Kim), Joey Helton (Karen) and Kristi Brown (Tim); step grandchildren, Shane Whartenby (Jamie) and Shawna Wood (Justin); great grandchildren, Austin and Kayla Helton, Tanner and Trey Owen; step great grandchildren, Rachel and Katelyn Brown, Brendan, Kaedon and Felicity Whartenby, Xavier, Ephraim, Perez and Asher Wood; great-great granddaughter, Airiana Brown (born on her birthday Sept, 6, 2012); brother, Louis Doerr (Faye); sister, Henny Huffman and many nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Penn Run Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from noon until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst.
