Dorothy Ann Neal

Dorothy Ann Neal, age 85, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on October 2, 1937, in Monticello, Kentucky.  She passed away on February 12, 2023.  She lived in Louisville, Kentucky. most of her life. 

She is survived by her children Dena Neal, Della Neal (deceased), Diane Mayabb (David), Debbie Tai (Daniel), and Kenneth Neal (Lisa); grandchildren, Lonny Powell, Heather Miller (Steve), Faith Klosterman, Joshua Phillips (Alison), Sarah Jones (David), Jeremy Powell, Jeremy Goodman, Dylan Neal (Haley), Hannah Neal (Joseph), Sarah Neal and Josiah Tai; and 14 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents John Marian and Ather Irene (Crabtree) Gregory; and her siblings Janice, Betty, Arnold, and Roy Gene.

She worked as a dairy farmer and part time in the shirt factory in Monticello, Kentucky when her children were young.  Later, she managed a Clark Oil gas station and delivered newspapers part time.  After that, she worked at ValuMarket in the Deli.

She was a member of Highview Baptist Church.  Even to the end, she always desired to be obedient to the Lord.  She was humble and had a strong quiet strength that people quickly and easily recognized and appreciated.  She had a godly love for everyone, even difficult people.  She loved yard sales, thrift stores, and all kinds of flowers.  She was very passionate about her family; and because of her faith in God, all her children also walk with God.

The celebration of her life will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 12:30pm on Friday, February 17, 2023, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 2pm-8pm and Friday from 10am until the service time at 12:30pm.
