Georgia Lee Kelley

Our treasured mom, Georgia Clark Ferguson Kelley, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the three Ferguson Girls, who are sure she walked into Heaven. Georgia battled PLS for over 25 years, never complaining. Even though PLS affected her mobility, it did not define her as she continued to show grace, faith and courage.Georgia was born on January 17, 1932, in Shepherdsville, Ky., the first child of William Thomas and Anna Beatrice Clark. She was the valedictorian of the 1950 class of Shepherdsville High School and was the Bullitt County Spelling Bee Champion. Georgia served as PTA President, precinct captain, Girl Scout troop leader, and homeroom mother. She retired from Jefferson County Public School System where she was the secretary at T.T. Knight Middle School. She was a member of the Prestonview Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Noah B. Ferguson and Irvin T. Kelley; her parents; and her beloved brother, Tommy Clark. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Denise Zukof, Linda Fox and Penny Altman; beloved and devoted sons-in-law, Charles Thompson, Calvin Fox, Richard Altman and Melvin Self; two stepchildren, Della Richardson (Jerry) and Ronald Kelley; grandchildren, David Self, Beth Caswell (David), Joshua Altman (Kimberly), Della-Marie Potter (Billy), Patte David (Nathan), and Elizabeth Goff (Billy) and eleven great grandchildren. Georgia’s funeral will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at noon at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with burial in Hebron Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 pm on Monday, May 31, 2021 and Tuesday from 10am until time of service. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Georgia’s memory to Hosparus of Louisville or the ALS Society of Louisville. Or Just call your mom. She might say: “What’s everybody doing? Looks like there’s a breeze a blowin.” And after you end the conversation with “I love you too!” she’ll say, “I know.”
