

Mrs. Helen Jean Riley, age 87, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born in Clermont, KY on January 7, 1937, to the late Richard Brinley and Katherine (Harris) Brinley. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma & great grandma. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved holidays, especially Christmas, and was known for giving the best presents which gave her the cherished name “Nanny Claus.” Throughout her life her most meaningful joys were her love for her grandchildren and her 10 great grandchildren. Nanny loved nothing more than attending all their sporting events. She was their “1 cheerleader. Helen also loved cheering on her U of L Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Bill Riley, parents, and brother Paul Brinley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kathy Merrifield (Frank) and Karen Quesenberry (Timmy); grandchildren, Billy Willis (Heather), Katie Haire (Luke), Aaron Quesenberry (Brianne), Nathan Quesenberry (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Kruze Cundiff, David Haire, Hudson Haire, Oakley Haire, Ryan Kate Haire, Hadley Hardin, Colt Quesenberry, Remi Quesenberry and Jaxson Vaughn, Jett Quesenberry, her brother Don Brinley and sister Beverly Brinley, along with a host of other dear family and friends.
Family and friends may gather from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with procession to follow for her graveside service and burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
