Horace "Huston" Broyles Jr.

Mr. Horace Huston Broyles Jr., 81 of Mt. Washington, Kentucky passed away on January 23,2023 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Mr. Broyles was born on March 5, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Horace Huston Broyles Sr. and Wilma Kays Broyles.

Huston was in education for 60 years, including 30 years at Fern Creek High School as a social studies teacher. He continued sharing his knowledge in education as a substitute with Bullitt County Public Schools until present. Huston was an active member of Church of the Harvest Ministry Center, 8300 Shepherdsville Rd. Louisville, KY, and enjoyed serving on many committees with his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Wilma and sister, Claudia Pound.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving spouse of 40 years, Loretta (Bundy) Broyles; children, David Broyles (Robin), Tammie Beasley (Dale), Jason Orange (Teresa), and Julie Dunnavan (Ricky); 15 Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; sister, Sandy Clevenger and brothers, Paul Broyles and Barry Broyles.

The celebration of his life will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 12pm on Saturday, January 28, 2023 with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday from 2pm-8pm and Saturday from 10am until the service time at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Huston’s Honor may be made to Hosparus or Church of the Harvest Mission Fund.
