James "Jim" Marvin Sturgeon, Sr.

Mr. James Marvin “Jim” Sturgeon, Sr, age 78, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 25, 2021. Mr. Sturgeon was born in Louisville on December 28, 1942. Jim was a member of the International Boilermaker Union and a member of Southeast Christian Church. Among those that preceded him in death are his parents; and siblings, Pamela Foster, Joyce Hart and Bill Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jane Lee (Swisher) Sturgeon; children, Teresa Harper (Kyle), James “Buddy” Sturgeon, Jr. (Jenny), Michael Sturgeon (Megan), Lisa Stopher (Eric), Kelley Johnstone (Dustin) and Shannon Kelley (Edrik Lopez); grandchildren, Tucker, Tanner, McKenna, Teague, Tate, Keylee, Ellianna, Brayden, and James Sturgeon, Hannah and Grace Harper, Savannah, Sierrah, Tenley and Hattie Sturgeon, Claire and Martin Johnstone, Eli and Xavi Lopez and Zachary Stopher; great-granddaughters, Evelyn Sturgeon and Reagan Brown; and siblings, Richard Skaggs, Bonnie Robbins, Linda Hunt, Becky Sturgeon, Cathy Baki, George and Joe Garr.

Funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with interment to follow at Smith Family Cemetery (Springfield, KY). Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 3 pm until 8 pm and Monday from 9 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
