James W. Shay

Mr. James W. Shay, age 81, of Shepherdsville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, June 26, 2020 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Shay was born in Eminence, KY on February 13, 1939 to the late James M. Shay and Jessie Gordon Butts. He was a retired machinist from Alcoa and was a past secretary treasurer for Machinist Union Local #681.

Among those who preceded him in death are, his beloved grandson, Nicky Young; brother, Jerry Shay and sister, Joyce Terhune.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Fronzie P. Shay; children, Pam Zettwoch (Doug), Carrie Jewell (Leslie), Cathy Nicoulin, Rita Parsons and James Michael Shay (Missy); grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Michael, Steven, Caitlin, Meighan, Justin and Emily; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan McMillin and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 3:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens.
