My heart breaks with you over the loss of our beloved Janet. We were best of friends for as long as I can remember. We grew up next door to each other romping, playing, running through the fields, catching lighting bugs, eating tomatoes out of the garden and basking in the sun. We played with some of the first Barbie dolls ever made and visited the kitchens of our Mother's house and Ronnie and Kit's house to see who was cooking up the best dinner or goodies of the day. We had strict rules to follow, but we had such a wonderful carefree world to grow up in. For that we were truly blessed. We were taught respect for God, country and others. Along the line, another best and good friend Linda Polston Graham was added into our circle of friendship. I'm thinking we met each other during Sunday School while in diapers. When we started 1st grade, we rode the bus together and played in the band 4th through 12th grade. We wore solid wool uniforms to march in the heat of the summer. Let me tell you wearing wool in heat can teach you endurance. As we aged, we moved on to playing 45 rpm records and riding our horses on summer evenings.  One summer day my Mom and Dad had purchased new paint to paint my bedroom. Mom opened the paint and left the room for something and didn’t return for some time. While she was absent, Janet and I decided to start painting. The new color was a beautiful vibrant yellow. So, we decided to draw smiley faces on all four walls of the room. When Mom returned to the room she was surprised and not as happy with our painting skills as we were.  Yes, there was some sanding that we were put to work on following our artistic designs on the walls. We sanded it all down and then the room was painted with the yellow to cover the walls of the room. However, after all was completed, we could still faintly see the shadows of those smiley faces we had so much fun painting. Then we had first cars, boyfriends and high school graduation. We didn’t know how much our time and family and friends would affect our lives, but our friendship and love for each other and our families has remained a constant throughout the years. She will always be my first best friend. My heart is broken that she has been called home to be with her Heavenly Father. We will grieve for our loss of her kind and loving spirit. She will not be forgotten. We just need to remember she is now an angel watching over us until we're called home to be with Jesus. My condolences to all Janet's family and friends.
