Jess Arthur Sutton, Jr.

Mr. Jess Arthur Sutton, Jr. age 87, of Okolona, returned to his Heavenly Father on June 25, 2019.  He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Elizabeth (Roth) and Jess A. Sutton, Sr. on October 19, 1931. Mr. Sutton was catholic by faith and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a gunner and regular member of the original crew of the Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron Fifty-Two and was awarded the title of Plank Owner.  This award gave him the privileges and title to one plank of the Hanger 305 wherein the Fasron 52 was commissioned. He was a proud mechanic and retired from Atlas Concrete. His love for cars led him to enjoy racing at Fairgrounds Motor Speedway. Mr. Sutton loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue (Meredith) Sutton; and his brother Clarence “Mickey” Sutton.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, James A. Kellison (Linda), John A. Sutton, Patricia Limon (Frank), Bruce R. Sutton, Michael A. Sutton, Janet L. Underwood (Tim), and Ronald A. Sutton, Sr. (Christie); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Schneider-Curlee; several nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends.  

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2019 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with entombment to follow on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Evergreen Cemetery.  Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 3:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
