I to worked at So Louisville Shops.  1980's  Fred was my formen at Shop 17.   I use to clean the office.  I can still hear his laugh.  He was a smart man soft spoken.  He knew locomotives.  He knew how to treat his workers.  He came out of the office and would walk around and talk to the men working.  He was a jewel of a man.  Thank you for the memories Fred.  With much respect.

Fred was a very special person to me. If there was a job to do at Central Baptist Church, he did it. I always enjoyed hearing his beautiful singing voice. I love Beverly, his dear sweet wife..she was so speacial to me. May Fred rest in peace with our dear Lord. Jeanette

Fred & I sang together in our church choir and some ensembles in Central  for years.  I always considered him a close friend and loved him and Bev very much.   This has come as a shock to me and my family and we will lift Bev and the kids up in our prayers just like we did Fred the whole time we knew him.  God bless and keep you Beverly.

I worked with Fred when I was a machinist apprentice and later worked with him in management. Fred was truly the kind of person we all strive to be like.He was always liked by all who knew and worked with him.May his soul and spirit rest in peace with our Lord and may his family find peace at this trying time for them.

Fred was truly one of the "good guys". He will definitely be missed by all that knew him. RIP

I started my electrical apprenticeship at So. Louisville Shops in 1974 and a few years later worked for Fred on 3rd shift both in the truck gang and in running repair, tracks 2 thru 19. Later on in Corbin I had the pleasure to work with Fred again. He was one of the best bosses if not the best boss I ever had the pleasure to work for.  And yes he was truly one of the good guys. I'm sure everyone who worked at So. Louisville and Corbin will miss him. My sympathies to his family for their loss. With God's speed John Fred Wilkerson. May you rest in peace.

Will always remember the great music we made together and the many ways Fred used his talents to bless others.

so sorry to hear of this,  I'll always remember Fred for his smile and kind words,  he took me on my first tour in S. Lou shops in 1978 when I was assiged to the op center downtown, we worked together many years (on the phone) when I was in Louis and Jax...   in 1985 I moved to Corbin and worked around him again..    he was a great person...    RIP my Brother and God bless...    sorry for your loss....

Fred was a super guy to work with, we worked together many years nd I always enjoyed working with Fred. Our prayers are with his Family, may he rest in peace with God. I am sure that he will be missed.
