Joseph L Downs Jr.

Joseph Downs Jr., known lovingly to many as Joey, returned to the arms of Jesus on April 25, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on February 8, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky, he lived a life marked by strength, loyalty, and a deep devotion to the people and values he held dear.

Joey found joy in the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, where he could spend peaceful time surrounded by nature. Whether he was near the water, spending time outside, or gathered with family, he was most content when life was centered on the things that mattered most to him.

Family was always important to Joey. He is survived by his sisters, Jeanica (Richard) and Gina, who will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Joseph Downs Sr., his brother, Gerald, and his sisters, Angela and Barbara. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and he now rests in peace beside those who went before him.

Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of Joseph Downs Jr. lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was a testament to strength, faith, and the importance of standing firm in one’s beliefs while cherishing the people who matter most. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A visitation will be held at Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 S. Buckman Street Shepherdsville, Kentucky 40165 on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 11AM to 1PM with a funeral to immediately follow in the funeral homes chapel. Joey’s urn will be laid to rest at Brookland Cemetery in Shepherdsville, Kentucky.
