Linda Karen Blanton, age 71, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 26, 2025, with loving family by her side. She was born on November 17, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William Perry and Ruth (Richmond) Powers. Linda was a proud Kentucky Colonel. She was the most selfless woman; always caring for others and putting their needs before her own. She loved to cook, making sure there was plenty to invite family and friends to share. She was especially known for her green beans, where the secret ingredient was love. Linda enjoyed her family, but her grandchildren are what she held most dear to her heart. Her grandchildren fondly remember playing card games with her. Linda started a tradition on Christmas for her family. Instead of stockings, each family member received a laundry basket, filled with their own personal favorites. The baskets were brought out after the gifts were exchanged and the trading began; if there was something in someone else’s basket, an offer was made to trade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Blanton; son, Troy Blanton and brother, Tom Perry.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kenneth Ray Blanton and his wife, Jennifer Blanton; grandsons, Gregory, Brandon, Preston, Dakota, Kaden and Luke; great-granddaughter, Bailey; 5 brothers and sisters; her companion, Dennis along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 12:00 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 1:00 until 5:00 and on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 9:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
