Lucy Blane Mitchell

Mrs. Lucy Blane Mitchell (Dyer), age 89, of Fairdale, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. She was born July 8, 1932 in Cadiz, Kentucky to the late Elope King Dyer and Mamie Louisa Dyer (Parker). Mrs. Mitchell worked as a secretary for Durkees. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker as well. Mrs. Mitchell is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Edward Mitchell, Sr.; brothers, Kenneth Dyer, Raymond Dyer; and sister, Dorris Dyer.

Mrs. Mitchell loved flowers, her favorite flower was roses. She enjoyed entering baking competitions in the Kentucky State Fair where she won a few blue ribbons. One of her favorite hobbies was working crossword puzzles in the morning to keep her mind sharp. She also loved reading. Mrs. Mitchell made many friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Thomas E. Mitchell, Jr (Rita); daughter, Jacque Wallace (David); grandchildren, Matthew Mitchell (Hollie), Brandon Mitchell (Jessica); Jordan Wallace (Lauren); Elijah Wallace; Moriah Wallace; great grandchildren, Taylor, Mason, Alayna, Hattie Blain, Ellie, Lucy and a great grandson on the way; brother, Hayden Dyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church (804 Mt. Holly Rd. Fairdale, KY 40118) with burial to follow in Siloam Cemetery in Cadiz, Kentucky. (1267 Siloam Rd, Cadiz, KY 42211). Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) and Wednesday from 9:00am until 10:00am at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church.
