

Mark A. Kendall, age 71, was born on October 28, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. A graduate of Bedford High School and attendee of IU, Mark served his country as a sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, where he utilized his skills as a linguist. He was also proud to have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his dedication and leadership.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Doris, and his stepsister Annette. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, and their three sons: Allen, Christian (Diana), and J.R., sister, Bonnie, and step siblings: Rheunna, Leeland, Debbie, Denise, and Lisa. He cherished his role as a grandfather to eight grandchildren: Aspin, Lauren, Kody, Kimberly, Kaylen, Autumn, Eli, and Lucas, as well as five great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A career millwright, third degree mason, and award-winning winemaker, Mark was known for his outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and would help anyone that needed it. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road). Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliffe, Kentucky at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veteran charity.
