Scott Wayne Poynter, Sr.

Scott Wayne Poynter, Sr., age 56 of Louisville returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 26, 2024. He was born on January 11, 1968, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Charles, Sr. and Sylvia (Hild) Poynter. Scott was a drummer and liked classic rock music. He enjoyed fishing and trips to the beach, was a U of L fan and a Miami Dolphins fan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Tucker; brother, Charles Poynter, Jr. and sister, Deborah Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 15 years, Mary Anna (Slack) Poynter; sons, Tony Slack (Ashley), Scott Poynter, Jr., Greg Poynter, Bradley Poynter, Sr. and Rodney Freeman, Jr.; daughter, Brittney Freeman; grandchildren, Jasmine, Alicia, Bradley Jr., Colton, Bella, Emma, Rylee and Jaxson and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 11 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
