Shannon Lynn Sullivan

Ms. Shannon Lynn Flaherty Sullivan, age 51, of Fern Creek, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 27, 1972, to Nicholas D. and Barbara (Heitzman) Flaherty. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bernard and Norma Heitzman; and paternal grandparents, Herbert and Anna Flaherty.

Shannon was a graduate of Assumption High School, class of 1990 and a graduate of University of Louisville, class of 1994, where she earned her Bachelor of Nursing Degree and became a registered nurse. She worked as an RN for Jewish hospital for 23 years. Working for Jewish Hospital opened many doors for her, she was able to travel to the Appalachian Mountains and around the world to assist doctors and surgeons in kidney research. Shannon was an avid University of Louisville fan and a former member of Wildwood Country Club. Her hobbies included watching UofL basketball and football and playing golf. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a former member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Trey Sullivan, Anna Sullivan; parents, Barbara and Nicholas Flaherty; brother, Sean Patrick Flaherty; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church (5915 Outer Loop Louisville, Kentucky 40219) with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd).
