Sharon LaVerne Thompson

  Mrs. Sharon LaVerne Thompson, age 80, of Pioneer Village, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was born on March 26, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Harold and Amie Perkins. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Leonard Vester Hefner; 2nd husband, Garnett Thompson; daughter, Leda Gayle Sneed; son, Philip Neil Hefner; siblings, Jerry Perkins, Travis Perkins, James “Steele” Perkins, Larry Perkins, Kenny Perkins; Marian Faye Williams.

Sharon was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and cousin. She was a collector of dolls and Longaberger baskets. She also had an exquisite rock collection, collecting them from every place she visited.  Travelling was a joy of hers. She travelled many places, her favorite being Hawaii.

She leaves to cherish her memory her granddaughter, Kelli Sneed; grandson, Steven Kyle Sneed; granddaughter, Hayley Hefner; siblings, Sue Hutchison, Bradly “Rudy” Perkins (Veronica), Alton “Brent” Perkins (Joyce); son-in-law, Steven Sneed; fur baby Emmy; great grand fur baby, Bella; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm. 

Family and friends are invited to a life celebration for Sharon following the service at Bullitt's Winery and Bistro (124 N 3rd. St. Bardstown, Kentucky 40004).
