Shelia Marie Atherton

Mrs. Shelia Marie Atherton, age 67, of Okolona, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Mrs. Atherton was born in Louisville, KY on September 9, 1953 to the late Homer and Roberta Hyatt. She was a devoted caretaker to many family members, and she loved to work with her community through her work at South Louisville Antique & Toy Mall.

Shelia loved the simple things in life like good food, cooking and trying out new recipes. She loved, motorcycles and old car rides, time spent with her family, cuddles with Daisy, sitting outside and sipping iced tea, watching sunsets, and enjoying pretty views. Shelia appreciated yellow roses, good music, and dancing. She loved Bingo! Hopefully, they have daubers in Heaven! She was always giving wonderful advice and providing selfless care. She was quick to smile and spread cheer. She will be missed by so many for the marvelous person that she was.

Among those who preceded her in death are, her husband, James Robert Atherton Jr. and siblings, Randy Hyatt and Nancy Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Jeff Hall (Amy); sister, Kathy Dodson (Ed); sister-in-law, Michelle Dewitt (Terry); several beloved nieces, nephew, great nieces and great nephews; her dear friend, Bobby Mills; her loving dog, Daisy and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
