Shirley French

Shirley (Denham) French, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Mrs. French was born on May 11, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Corine (Goodin) Denham. 

Mrs. French was a retired Lunchroom and Office Assistant at Bates Elementary, where she loved working with the children. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and caring for other’s children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Corine Denham and siblings, William “Pete” Denham, Anna Carol Denham, David Denham Jr, Mary “Sis” Philpott, Betty McWilliams and Ruth Ann Dukes. 

She leaves to cherish his memory her husband, James “Kenny” French Sr.; daughter, Denise French (Tom); son, James “Jim” French Jr (Lori); grandchildren, Cory Ware, Bethany Combs (Will), Sara French and Danielle French; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ryleigh, Brendan, Liam, Peyton, Stephen, and Easton. 

Funeral services will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023 with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday, November 27, 2023 from 10am until the service time, at 2:00 pm.
