Shirley Yates

Shirley Yates, age 59 of Fairdale, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 20, 2015. Mrs. Yates was born to the late James Marr and Josephine Johnson and served in the Kentucky National Guard. Mrs. Yates was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairdale.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Dave Yates; children, Donald Yates (Teresa), David Sean Yates (Carmen), Dianna Humphrey (Mark), Suzanne Weird (Hank), D'Lisa Pratt (Ron), and Terri Yates (Jerry); grandchildren, Caden Yates, Derek Humphrey, Austin Weird, Isaac Humphrey, Alyssa Yates, Kyrsten Humphrey, Shelbie Riggle, Sierra Weird, Alex Humphrey, Jerry Simpson, and T.J. Yates; great grandchild, Mackenzie Humphrey; father, Leon Johnson; and brothers, Gary Marr and Jerry Johnson.

Among those who preceded her in death include her parents, James Marr and Josephine Johnson; sisters, Jawanna Marr and Judy Johnson; and brother, Junior Marr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM on Friday in the Chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway and Brooks Road use John Harper entrance) with interment at Rocky Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects Wednesday and Thursday from 1 PM until 8 PM at Schoppenhorst.
