Velma Lee (Blaydes) Stillwell

Mrs. Velma Lee (Blaydes) Stillwell, age 71, of Mt. Washington, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Mrs. Stillwell was born on May 31, 1949 in Mellridge, KY to the late Sonnie and Mary Blaydes. She was a devoted member of Little Flock Baptist Church.

Among those who preceded her in death are, her parents and her siblings, Doris Willard, Mary Alice Dunbar and Henry Blaydes.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 52 years, Tom Stillwell, Sr., whom she met at the age of 15. Together they shared the love of music. She enjoyed playing the piano and the accordion, which she started learning around the age of 4. She was also the piano player of a couple different churches that she attended over the years.  

In addition to her beloved husband, she leaves her children, Tommy Stillwell, Jr. (Marsha), Tim Stillwell (Kristal) and John Stillwell (Deana); grandchildren, Heather, Mandy, Natalie, Emily, Kandace, Stefanie, Chelsea, Brittany, John Jr., Haley and Luke; great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh and Kooper; brother, Joseph C. Blaydes and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the chapel of Little Flock Baptist Church (5500 N. Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville) with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects at the church on Friday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service.

She left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace and was an example to all who knew her. We look forward to the day we will be reunited in Heaven.
