William "Billy" "Big Poppi" Kessel II

William “Billy” Kessel, II, also known as “Big Poppi”, passed away at his home on Monday, January 13, 2025, with loving family by his side. He was born on April 29, 1977, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, to William and Mary Ann Kessel. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, joining in Kentucky straight out of high school. Billy was a “gentle giant” known for his big heart and giving nature. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors, but his true passion was his family and the time he spent with them.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 14 years, Amy Kessel; children, Seth Estes (Caison), MaKayla Kessel (Jesse), McKenzie Kessel, Jake Estes and Gabe Kessel; grandchildren, Dalton and Clifton Estes; parents, William and Mary Ann Kessel; brother, David Kessel; fur-baby, Boomhauer and a host of other family and friends.

Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) in charge of arrangements where the family will honor Billy’s wishes of cremation. A memorial service will be held to honor Billy at a later date.
