William J. Mudd

Mr. William Jerome Mudd, age 79, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 6, 2023 at UofL Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. Bill was born on September 25, 1943 to the late Francis J. and Mary A. Blandford Mudd.

Bill was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Class of 1961. He was retired from Interstate Bakeries where he worked as a Route Salesman. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Laboratory Technician for Celanese and Reliance Universal.

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Frances Victoria Coverdell.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving spouse of 58 years, Rita Johnson Mudd; daughter, Melissa Strickland; grandson, Brandon Strickland (Chelsea); granddaughter, Brooke Strickland; great- granddaughter, Madison Strickland and great- grandson, Lucas Strickland. He is also survived by four sisters, Catherine E. Brown (Paul), Joyce M. Mudd, Patricia L. Walden and Mary Susan Green; six brothers, Raymond L. Mudd (Regina), Harry J. Mudd (Ginger), Larry P. Mudd (Margie), Thomas A. Mudd (Mary Ann), Dennis E. Mudd and Joseph A. Mudd; a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.

At Bill’s request, cremation was chosen and his Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.

Private entombment will be held at a later date at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
