Doris Ludmila Vincik

Doris Ludmila Vincik, 95, of Abilene, Texas, and formerly of Shiner, Texas passed away on Saturday, August, 10, 2019 at Coronado Nursing & Rehab in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, Texas with Father Bryan Heyer officiating. Interment will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner, Texas. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Buffington Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Machacek officiating.
Doris was born on December 21, 1923 in Shiner, Texas to Jerry Veselka and Annie Tousek. She attended Green school and St. Joseph School in Moulton, Texas. She was a devoted member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Doris met and danced with Robert F. Vinick at Shiner dances until he was sent overseas to serve in World War II. Robert returned to United States with injuries and Doris rode a train from Shiner to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where they were married. Doris & Robert returned home to Shiner were Robert was unable to find work due to his war injuries. They found work with the Richard King family in Corpus Christi who were the owners of King Ranch. Doris and Robert were both employed by the King family for many years. Doris returned home to Shiner with Robert where they lived happily for over 63 years. She enjoyed caring for her family and helping Robert with the work on the farm they owned. Doris liked to play dominoes, bingo, and going to dances. Doris worked for Kasper Wire Works for over 30 years as a coin mechanism checker. She was a devoted member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 94 and VFW Auxiliary Post 6209.
Doris is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kay Linda Vincik of Abilene, Texas; two grandsons, Jeremey Mayes of Staton, Oregon and Jason Mayes of Abilene, Texas; two granddaughters Jennifer Keesee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Julie Fowler and her husband, Mitch of Abilene, Texas. She is also survived nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister Gertrude Pavlica of Austin, Texas along with many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Vincik in 2008. Robert J. Vincik, her only son, also preceded her in death in 1998 as well as her sister, Lorene Brzozowski of Gonzales, Texas in 2011.
