

Funeral services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Shiner United Dr. Martin Luther Church in Shiner Texas, with Reverend Elaine Gomulka officiating. Interment will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner, Texas. Visitation will be on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Buffington Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 pm with Reverend Elaine Gomulka officiating.
Elvera was born on February 3, 1918 in Shiner Texas. She was the daughter of Otto and Emma (Stoeltje) Sander. After graduating from high school, Elvera went to school to become a beautician. She married Alphonse Jaks. She was a beautician, homemaker, and served as an organist in the community for over 50 years. She enjoyed arranging flowers and decorating her house with them. She would tell the family that she was going to play for the “old folks” and she would be the oldest one there. She served as President of the Shiner Hospital Auxiliary for two terms.
Survivors include three sons; David Jaks and his wife, Margaret of Shiner, Texas, A.J. Jaks and his wife, Sharon of Shiner, Texas, Carl Jaks and his wife, Linda of Seguin, Texas, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Otto and Emma Jaks, her husband; Alphonse A. Jaks, an infant brother; LeeRoy Sander, and one daughter; Marilyn Jaks Box.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Jaks will be; Brian Jaks, Alison Jaks, Justin Jaks, Sarah Jaks, Sander Jaks, and Rob John Koschade. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Dr. Tim Wagner, M.D., Dr. Ralph Wagner, M.D., Holly Sciba, Dave Jaks, and Wendy Edmunds.
