

Funeral Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Elaine Gomulka officiating. Interment will follow at Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner, Texas. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017 with the family greeting friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
Margie was born on December 20, 1937 in Raymondville, Texas. She was the daughter of Glen B. and Gertrude (Tharpe) Stewart. She lived in Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School where she played basketball and was a twirler. She attended Victoria College where she met Wilbert Zimmerman. They were married in 1957, and moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Margie attended McNeese College. In 1959, their son, Timothy was born and they moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she attended LSU. Their daughter, Lee Ann was born and Margie continued her education and graduated from Louisiana College. She taught school in Baton Rouge for one year, then returned to Texas to be closer to her family. She taught Special Education and Kindergarten at Shiner Elementary School for 30 years. Margie earned her Masters Degree from the University of Houston. Margie’s hobbies were sewing and quilting. She loved holding her pet, Riley while watching TV.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Wilbert Zimmerman, one son; Timothy Zimmerman and his wife, Jan of Orange Grove, Texas, one daughter; Lee Ann Otto and her husband, David of Shiner, Texas, one sister; Norma Dunnahoe of Corpus Christi, Texas, three grandchildren; Jennifer Reider and her husband, Joey of Woodsboro, Texas, Kristina Zimmerman of Orange Grove, Texas, Lance Otto of Shiner, Texas, two great-grandchildren; Hailey & Emmery Rieder, and numerous nieces and nephews.
