Mildred Mae Schulte

Mildred Mae Schulte was born on January 10, 1928 to parents Harry and Lillian Klaus Renken. She was born and raised on a farm near Shiner. The first 5 years of school she attended a county school named Bunjes. From 6 th grade to graduation she attended Shiner High School .During high school years, she was on the volley ball team, ran girls track and played soft ball as catcher. She also spent high school years as drum major of the high school band. After graduation, she went to work for Tex Tan (leather factory) in Yoakum, TX. In 1944 she met Benjamin Schulte whom she married on April 27, 1946.

Benjamin, being in service, they spent 6 months at Fort Benning, Georgia. After coming back to Shiner, they farmed until May 1955.Selling the farm, they moved to Houston where they resided till 2006. Mildred worked several years for Battelsteins clothing store while Benjamin worked for Suniland furniture. Benjamin was suddenly killed on August 13th 2001. Mildred resided in her home in Houston until March 18, 2006 when she moved to an apartment in Rosenberg, Texas. While in Rosenburg, she kept her two great grandchildren until they started school.

Mildred and Benjamin were members of the dance club Polka of A. They spent years dancing which was the joy of their life. Mildred had 55 years 4 months of married life together. During this time they had 2 daughters – Carol Jean and Gayle Lynn.

Survivors : Carol Hass and husband Rick, Gayle Kennedy and husband Howard, granddaughters Kim Hass Clayton and husband Wade, Katherine Kennedy and Dexter Scott, grandson Howard Kennedy III great grandchildren Colton Wayne Clayton, Calli Blair Clayton, Camille Katelynn Scott.

Deceased : Husband -Benjamin Schulte, father, Harry Renken, mother, Lillian Renken, sister, Pearl Roznovsky.

Visitation will start at Buffington Funeral Home Saturday, August 18,2012 at 10:00 am.

Services will begin at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Clarence Hagens officiating. Burial will follow at Shiner City Cemetery.
