Mr. Albert A.G. Gibson Walton Jr.

Services celebrating the life of Albert Gibson Walton, Jr., 88, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 1, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Officiating the services will be Rev. Steve Nelson of Hope Community Church of God in Shreveport, LA and Mr. Walton’s son, Rev. Tom Walton. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Centuries Funeral Home.

Mr. Walton was born on November 18, 1922 in Leesville, LA to Albert Gibson Walton, Sr. and Maud Carver Walton. He attended Louisiana Tech University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Walton was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Mr. Walton was also a member of Hope Community Church of God in Shreveport, LA.

A.G. is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Gibson, Sr. and Maud Carver Walton and sister, Lillian Walton Hall.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of A.G. are his wife of 67 years, Athelene Walton, children; Jean Philyaw of Shreveport, LA, Tom Walton and wife Marla of Lake Wales, FL and David Walton and wife Barbara of Sanford, NC, grandchildren; Chris Philyaw, Karen Philyaw, Alicia Walton, Suanne Walton, Elizabeth Walton Stewart and husband William, John David Walton, 5 great grandchildren and numerous church family members and golfing buddies.

Honoring Mr. Walton as pallbearers will be: John David Walton, Chris Philyaw, Nick Manco, Darrell Storey, Buddy Harris and Rick Self.

Mr. Walton had a great devotion and love for his church, his family and golf.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mr. Walton’s name to the Hope Community Church of God building fund, 3247 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport, LA-71118.
