BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services honoring the life of Mr. Alton T. Hemperley will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 25, 2013, at Woodridge Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Chuck McInturf officiating. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Sunday evening between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Alton was born on October 13, 1938, in Shreveport, LA to parents, Asa and Vera (Thigpen) Hemperley and passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 21, 2013. He served his country proudly by enlisting in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Alton was a true “Mr. Fix It” and right or wrong, could fix just about anything. He loved to go fishing and he loved his family. Alton was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, John Oliver Hemperley, Asa Hemperley, Jr., and Mercer Hemperley. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Patricia (Belcher) Hemperley; son, Coty Hemperley; daughters, Marlin Hadley and husband, Ken; Michelle Hornsby and husband, Travis; sister, Margaret Gayle Fleege; brothers, Charles Wayne Hemperley and wife, Brenda, Marion “Buster” Hemperley; and grandchildren, K.C. Hadley, III and wife, Olivia, Kyle Hadley, and Chelsea Hornsby.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Garden Park Nursing Home, St. Joseph Hospice, and all the health care providers that took such wonderful care of Alton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Woodridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
