Billie Jean Horn Artz was born Shreveport, Louisiana on February 21, 1938 to Alvin and Myma Horn. She was the eldest of three brothers and three sisters. She was married to James Dean Artz, Sr. for 63 years before his passing. Billie Jean was a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother and cared for everyone she loved. She was a devoted Christian who attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years. She was a very soft-spoken woman with a heart of gold. She liked the simple things in life, gardening, taking walks, reading books and her bible and sitting in the sun on her front porch. She treasured the getaways with her best friend and exploring the sites and wonders of the World. She loved that more than anything. Billie Jean will be greatly missed, but we know she is with her Lord and Savior, at peace.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, James Dean Artz; daughter, Denise Artz Barmore; granddaughter, Skylar Barmore and great-granddaughter, Adaline Blake McQuire.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James D. Artz, Sr.; daughters, Elizabeth Artz and Deborah Artz Langston; parents, Alvin and Myma Horn; brother-in-law, Bennie Sirmon; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Burson.
A celebration of life for Billie will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 9938 Greentree Ln, Shreveport, Louisiana.
