Billy Jo Goines Fugate

Billy Jo Goines-Fugate, age 73, passed peacefully on February 6, 2018, after a brief struggle with cancer. Billy Jo was born on October 29, 1944, in Chattanooga, TN., the daughter of Ralph Lumley and Juanita Hyboone.

Billy Jo thoroughly enjoyed dancing, performing at many senior homes across Shreveport Bossier, competing in line dance contest and loved her Friday nights at the VFW. She also enjoyed fishing with her late husband, Del Fugate. More than anything, she loved being a mother to her two beautiful children and grandmother to her four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and aunt.

In 1962, Jo married the love of her life, Delbert Wayne Fugate in Chicago, IL. In 1969 they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where they raised their children and had a successful business.

In addition to raising two beautiful children, she worked in the family business, was an exceptional homemaker and volunteered for the Shreveport Parks and Recreation.

Billy Jo attended Kingston Road Baptist church where she truly enjoyed hymnals and the word of God.

Billy Jo is survived by her sister, Virginia Goines, brother, Cecil Lumley, wife Mary Lumley, and Terry Goins, wife Maureen Goins; son, Ricky W. Fugate of Shreveport LA.; daughter, Terry Ann Fugate-Long of Arlington, TX., and future son-in-law, David Thorpe; nephews, Robert Durante, wife Stacie Durante, Michael Bajic and Mathew Goines; niece, Cherie Durante; four grandchildren, Blair’s Rose, Jessica Fugate, Joshua Fugate and Colby Long; 4 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and close friends.

Services will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is at 12PM-2PM with services to follow.
