

Billy Ray Stone Sr. was born on September 28, 1930 to the late Raymond and Beatron Stone in Deadwood, Texas. He went home to the Lord on Thursday, June 22, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation for Mr. Stone will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 starting at 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Centuries Memorial Chapel with a burial to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Brother Mike Stowell will be officiating the services. Serving as Pallbearers will be Billy’s Nephews, Brad McCullough, Ron McNeil, Harold McMullen, Jason McMullen, Randy Stone, and Donnie Heyen.
Billy fought for his country, serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended the First Baptist Church of Keithville. He enjoyed gardening, archery, fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for playing musical instruments and loved playing church hymns.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Edith Taylor Stone; a daughter, Lisa Johnson (Dennis); a son, Steve Stone (Teresa); granddaughters, Lindsay (Richard), Brandy (Garrett), Jessica (Mark), and Katie (Matt); five great granddaughters; two sisters, Margaret Sermon and Betty Strong (G.W); and a brother Douglas Stone (Ina).
The family would like to give special thanks to the Staff of Garden Park Nursing Home, Dr. Ghattas and Dr. Ricky Jones for the care they showed Billy.
