He is survived by his beloved wife of over 57 years, Glenda Hudspeth; his daughter, Dr. Katie Gardner, and her husband, Mr. Kenneth Gardner; his son, Mr. Michael Todd Hudspeth; and his daughter, Mrs. Lori Denham, and her husband, Dr. Sean Denham. He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Hannah Miquel Crisp, Jack Riley Hudspeth, Tara Grace Hudspeth, Elana Jayne Warren, Laryn Kate Chretien, Zennie Augustus Chretien, Macy Rain Denham, and Marjorie Lane Denham.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mrs. Julie Warren; his parents, Reverend H. P. Hudspeth and Mrs. Marjorie Nolan Hudspeth; and his brother, Reverend David Hudspeth.
A passionate disciple of Jesus and a steadfast champion of the faith, Bishop Hudspeth devoted his entire life to the Gospel. A graduate of Texas Bible College, he began his ministry as a fiery evangelist, preaching the truth with conviction, compassion, and unwavering dedication. Following a citywide crusade in 1972, he relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana, where he faithfully pastored King’s Temple United Pentecostal Church for 41 years. For the past 11 years, he continued to serve as Bishop, offering wisdom, leadership, and spiritual guidance.
In 1976, Bishop Hudspeth founded Kingston Christian Academy, providing Kingdom Education for students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Now in its 50th year, KCA continues his legacy of preparing young lives to pursue God’s calling and purpose.
Beyond his local ministry, Bishop Hudspeth served for over 16 years on the Louisiana UPCI District Board as Section 11 Presbyter. He was also a gifted singer, songwriter, and pianist, whose musical ministry inspired and uplifted countless lives. Known for his encouraging spirit and unshakeable faith, he embodied his often-quoted response: "Fine by Faith."
He was a devoted husband to Glenda, a loving father to Julie, Katie, Todd, and Lori, a proud grandfather, and a true friend to many. It was often said that he had the rare gift of making others feel as though they were the most important person in the room.
While we grieve the loss of this extraordinary man, we rejoice in the certainty that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. We have no doubt that he has heard the words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
