Bobby Alvin Kendrick was born in Doyline, Louisiana in 1934. He lived most of his adult life in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he passed away on July 22, 2026. A memorial service will be held at Ellerbe Road Methodist Church at 10130 Ellerbe Church Road in Shreveport on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:00AM. Rev. John Korlaske will officiate the service. Family hour will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 22 at Ellerbe Road Methodist Church.
Bob graduated from Springhill High School, where he played on the 1952 State Champion football team. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Lola Corbell, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Bob served as a radar technician on B-47’s, a radio operator on C-119’s, and a loadmaster on C-124’s and C-141’s.
Bob attended Northwestern State College and earned a B.S. in Industrial Education. He taught Industrial Arts at Linwood Jr. High and Electronics at Woodlawn High. Bob changed careers to work at Western Electric / AT&T, where he spent 25 years as a maintenance supervisor and section chief.
Bob enjoyed traveling with his family, projects for family and friends, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and piloting his airplanes. He excelled at restoring vehicles, including a Model A Ford, a WWII Jeep and a Piper Cub L-4 airplane. He was a member of the Commemorative Air Force and the Quiet Birdmen fraternity.
He is survived by son Michael and wife Jana of Benton, son Dave and wife Penny of Shreveport, and son Don and wife Robin of Decatur, GA; seven grandchildren: Baron and wife Tracy of Holly Springs, NC, Erika and husband Derek Phillips of Wiley, TX, Lori and husband Nick Slagle of Raleigh, NC, Stephanie and husband James Schramm of Keithville, LA, Heather Kendrick of Shreveport, Grace Kendrick and fiancé Ethan Wescoat of Peachtree Corners, GA, and Joy and husband Austin Stamper of Atlanta, GA. Bob had eleven great-grandchildren at the time of his passing.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Lola, his parents, Kenneth and Aura Lee Kendrick and his brothers, Creston, Arnold and Rodger Kendrick.
