Cathy was born on December 31, 1950, in Shreveport to Max and Barbara “Babs“ Colvin. Cathy spent her entire life surrounded by the people she loved most. To know Cathy was to know kindness, strength, and the comforting presence of someone who always made time for conversation. Her legacy lives on not only in her children and grandchildren, but also in the countless lives she touched simply by being herself. Cathy poured her heart into her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime. She was also a loyal friend, offering her humor, a listening ear, and open heart to those lucky enough to walk through life alongside her. Cathy loved telling stories, reading, listening to music, and gathering with family and friends. Cathy’s intimate yet fervent Christian faith led her to be known as a prayer warrior among her friends and family. She fought a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis for over 30 years. Cathy has now been healed and is resting in the arms of Jesus and reunited with her father, grandparents, and loved ones for eternity in heaven.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Max Colvin.
Cathy is survived by her mother Babs Colvin; her brother Rusty Colvin (wife Wanda); her sister Cammie Colvin Hanks (husband Mike, children Hunter and Abigail); and her beloved husband of almost 51 years, David Doyal, with whom she built a life rich in laughter, love, and unwavering support. Together they raised three sons: David Russell Doyal (wife Holly, children Bailey and Max), Cade Christopher Doyal (wife Kelli, children Payton, Landri, and Drake), and Drew Colvin Doyal (wife Hillary, children Lily and Wyatt) — each a reflection of her warmth, strength, and enduring guidance. She was also cherished by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be David Russell Doyal, Cade Doyal, Drew Doyal, Payton Doyal, Max Doyal, Wyatt Doyal, Mike Hanks, and Hunter Hanks.
For those who might wish to make a memorial in Cathy’s honor, the family suggest St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as worthy recipients and meaningful to Cathy and the family.
