Mr. Charles “Charlie” Driggers
September 13, 1949 – January 20, 2018
Charles “Charlie” Driggers of Marshall, Texas went to his eternal home on Saturday, January 20, 2018, after an unexpected illness. He was born on September 13, 1949 to Coleman and Jean Driggers. He was proceeded in death by both his father and mother. He is survived by his affectionate wife of 13 years, Cathy Driggers; two sons, Charles “CJ” Driggers and wife, Tara, of Bossier City, LA; Jason Bond and wife, Jennifer, of Santa Rosa, CA; daughter, Lauren Howell and husband, Abbie, of Woodbury, TN; three grandsons, Coleman and Aiden Driggers of Bossier City, LA; and Barrett Bond of Santa Rosa, CA; sister, Cathy Johnston and husband, Jimbo, of Shreveport, LA; nephew, Brandon Johnston of Springfield, MO; along with many aunts, cousins, and friends.
Charles entered this world the same way he lived it, full of life and love. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, LA. He was a man of many words and wisdom. He served as a Boatswain’s mate in the United States Navy for four years. He served three tours in the Vietnam War on the USS White Plains. After the war, he went on to further his education at Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, TX.
Charles was also a man of many talents as well. One of which was truck driving, where it lead him to receive the CB handle of “Popcorn Ball,” which his son C. J. uses today. Charles was also the second of three generations in the truck driving industry. While living in California, he studied and earned the highest rank of certification as a Gold Level STIHL technician.
He enjoyed living life to the fullest and testing the limits. Charles loved his family, especially, his grandsons. Spending time with them brought so much excitement and joy to his life. He also found serenity and occasional action while spending the day on the lake fishing with his “Girl Baby” Cathy. If anything was ever learned from being around him, it was to enjoy every moment, especially the little simple things because they are what made life worth living.
Visitation will be at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Mansfield Road, Wednesday, January 24th from 5-8 p.m. A service celebrating the life of Charles will be held Thursday, January 25th at 11 a.m. with Rev.
