Charles H. "Joe" Pate

Services to honor the life of Charles “Joe” Pate, 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday evening between 5 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

“Joe” was born on April 11, 1932, in Caspiana, LA to the late Morris C. and Mary Pate. He passed away peacefully at his home in Keithville on Saturday, December 18, 2010. “Joe” served his country in the U.S. Army and later became a truck driver for more than 50 years, retiring from Saia Motor Freight Co. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, tinkering on old cars, and visiting his friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde, Bobby, Raymond, and Harold Pate; and his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Frances Pate; son, Michael R. Pate and wife, Judy; daughter, Daphne Bessing and husband, David; sisters, Sue East, Betty Hewitt, and Helen Shields; grandchildren, Charlie Pate, Casie Karevicius and husband, Aaron, Tiffany Mathews, and Brittany Contario; and one great-granddaughter, Emersyn Karevicius.

Pallbearers are Lamar Shields, Terry Shields, Timmy Hewitt, David Bessing, Robbie Pate, and Charlie Pate.
