Charles Edward Thurmon, born on June 28, 1939, in Lillie, Louisiana, passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 86. A resident of Bossier City, Louisiana, Charles was a devoted family man and a respected member of his community.
Charles honorably served in the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying dedication and patriotism throughout his military career. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He cherished his men's group in Jefferson, Texas, and was a faithful attendee of church services.He truly enjoyed working in the pest control industry with his three nephews. Charles had a deep love for his fur babies and found immense joy in playing with his great-grandchildren. His devotion to family was evident in the love he had for his daughters and siblings.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Mitchell Thurmon; daughters Denise Smith (Elton) and Arlene Castello (Gary); grandchildren, Brittney Malmay (Elijah), Justin Thornton (Nicki), Lauren Thornton, Kristian Marzula (Bree), and Trishlyn Johnson; and sisters Nancy Hollis, Sarah Smart, and Susan McFarlane. He is also survived by his brother, John Thurmon, and 15 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Charles Thurmon and Hazel Davis Thurmon; his sister, Glenna DeMoss; and his niece, Holly Hollis Stars.
Visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Kinkade Room, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, on December 18, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at the same venue, in the Chapel, on December 19, 2025, at 10:00 am. Charles will be laid to rest at Point Chapel Cemetery, Highway 163, Doyline, LA.
