Danny Wilson Wilburn was born December 11, 1946 in Mansfield, Louisiana. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1965 and was an outstanding football player for the Wolverines, where he was a left half back, #19. He honorably served in the United States Air Force. Danny was a Mansfield Police Officer and retired with many years of service with the Caddo Parish Sheriff Office. He studied at Baptist Christian College. He was a past commander for the American Legion Post 6, member of post 14, 40/8 Club, Moose Lodge and FOP.
Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Wilburn; his parents, Guy and Lela Wilburn; his daughter, Sonya Shaw and numerous brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Robert Jack Wilburn of Jacksonville, Florida and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a special love for his grandson, Chase Barnhill, who had been by his side since day one. Bonnie will always cherish the 26 years that they spent together.
A celebration of life for Danny will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with a visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Fr. Francis Kamau will be officiating the services.
