Dean H. Massey, age 89, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2026. Born January 24,1937, in Belmont, Louisiana, Dean lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devotion to her family, and a steadfast commitment to serving God.
For those who knew her, there was never any doubt about Dean's love for the Lord. Her life was centered on honoring God and sharing His truth with others. She spent many years studying the Bible and teaching Sunday school, faithfully investing in the lives of many students. One former student remarked that Dean was the best teacher she ever had—a testament to Dean's gift for teaching and her sincere love for people.
Her ministry extended beyond the church and into her own family. As a devoted grandmother, she not only cared for her grandsons but also taught them Scripture from an early age. Through her encouragement and dedication, they memorized many Bible verses by the age of four, often astonishing those around them with their knowledge of God's Word.
Dean also expressed her love through hospitality. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was especially known for her delicious cinnamon rolls, which became a treasured favorite among those fortunate enough to enjoy them.
More than anything, Dean leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, integrity, and commitment. She believed in keeping her word and could always be counted on to do what she promised. Her generosity, loyalty, and steadfast example shaped generations of her family. The continued faith and service to God seen in her children and grandchildren stand as a lasting testimony to her lifelong investment in God's Kingdom.
Dean is survived by her daughters, Alanna Alton and Alane Richardson (Jack); her grandsons, Derek Alton (Elaina), Travis Richardson (Heather), Dylan Richardson, and Tyler Richardson; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Alton, Hadassah Alton, Idan Alton, and David Presley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Alan Massey; her father, Joe Neil Heard; her mother, Rubye Green Heard; her brother, Billy Joe Heard; and her son-in-law, Billy Alton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Jack Richardson, Derek Alton, Travis Richardson, Dylan Richardson, Tyler Richardson, and Cade Rimmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central Assembly of God Teen Challenge Ministry, 700 Highway 80, Haughton, La 71037.
Dean's life was a beautiful example of faith in action. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of devotion to God, love for others, and commitment to truth will continue to inspire all who knew her.
