Janice Dianne Mitchell Snell was born August 15th, 1945 in Shreveport, LA to the union of Robert Jack Mitchell and Gloria Ross Mitchell. She passed from this life and into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 16th, 2018 after a final bout with cancer. Services will be conducted by Dr. Chad Hardbarger, Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where Dianne and her husband were members. The services will be conducted in the Chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, March 19th from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be David Williams, Daniel Lafitte, John Oden, Tommy Barr, Michael Barr, and Kenneth Barr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Miller and Ralph Wilson.
Dianne graduated from Fair Park High School in 1963 and married her husband, John the same year. She was a graduate of Watson’s Beauty School and was a hair stylist in the Shreveport area for many years.
She is survived by her husband, John Snell, Sr.; two daughters, Laurie Morris/ Robert and Julie Karr/ Patrick; one son, John Snell, Jr.; three grandchildren Aimee Lafitte/ Daniel, Jamie Buchanan, and Sarah Karr; two great grandchildren Layton Lafitte and Maci Lafitte, one sister, Sandra Williams/ David; one brother, Timothy Mitchell; and one brother, Ronnie Mitchell (of California) among a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Michael; a special nephew Matthew Mitchell, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dianne was much loved by her family and friends. She loved the Lord and was always ready to help someone in need. She will be greatly missed. In the word of her husband John: “A part of me goes with you, never to be replaced until I am with you again to fill this empty place in my heart. As our song says, ‘without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own’ Goodbye my darling, until I meet you in Paradise and I will be a whole man again. I will love you beyond forever.”
Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
