Services to honor the life of Mr. Dick Carlisle Hull, 81, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Mark Bray of Summer Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation be will be held from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m.
Dick was born on March 11, 1930, to parents, Buford and Geneva Hull, and passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. He was a USAF Veteran and 25 year retiree of Lucent Technologies (formerly AT&T). Dick was also a member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church and Friendship Sunday School Class for more than 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, cheering on the New York Yankees and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and spending time with his family and friends. When his children were small, precious time was spent with them coaching their baseball teams, teaching them to fish, and just being together. Since Dick's retirement he and Shirley have enjoyed traveling in their RV with special friends, sharing laughs and creating memories along the way. Dick was an active volunteer as a Lifetime member of the Telecom Pioneers. Dick's generosity, selflessness and commitment were impressed upon all who knew him.
Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, James “Butch” Hull and Samuel Eugene “Sam” Hull; and his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Shirley Hull; sons, John Richard Hull and wife, Marcia, and Jeffrey Alan Hull; daughter, Julie Jaylene Hull; grandchildren, Syliva Rose Osorno and husband, Jack, Joel Carlisle Hull, and Max Ihrig Hull; and one great-grandson, Seth Warren Osorno. Dick is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Hull, his cousins Marilyn Sprouse and her husband Ralph and Patricia Groff and many nieces and nephews (and grand-nieces and nephews).
